What is the role of AMP Professor Connect?

Introduction

AMP was established in the year 2007, and has been serving the community and country by focusing on education, employment, and empowerment, especially of the underserved groups. To this end, several programs such as the Employability Training Program (ETP), School Development Programs (SDP), Job Fairs  (complete list available at https://ampindia.org/projects), have been developed and executed across the country. Recently, AMP established portals for crowd-funding zakat (indiazakat.com), mentoring students (theindiamentors.com), and connecting employee-employers (ampowerjobs.com).

With the increase in activities and reach, a dedicated resource group is needed to provide the expertise and experience, to advise and streamline the activities. Hence several academicians were invited to join the group.

Goal and Objectives

The goal of this group is

to be an educational and scholarly resource for AMP in achieving its vision and mission.

The following objectives were framed to achieve the goal

• to work towards making quality education accessible at all levels,
• to help APN members achieve career goals, and
• to assist member institutions achieve world-class status.

To this end, APN may

initiate, design, advise, and/or organize activities in support of AMP’s vision and mission-centered around education, employment, and empowerment by bringing together academicians from across the country on a common platform.

The first activity conducted by the APN was the AMP National Talent Search 2020 held on Sunday, January 3, 2021. Over 40,000 students registered, and the best performers identified.

Programs and Roadmap

Train the Trainer

With the increasing reach and growing number of beneficiaries, the number of programs needs to be scaled-up greatly. This requires a larger number of trainers for programs such as ETP, and SDL, and more organizers for programs such as Job Fairs.

As the job market continues to see a churn in the type of jobs, and skills required, it is necessary to focus on current & emerging fields.

Connect-communicate-collaborate

Academics depend greatly on collaboration between groups, internally and externally. The availability of a diverse group of academics should help widen the connect and share best practices. This will help both the individual’s career growth and the institution’s status.
