Over 2,024 deserving and underprivileged lives were touched by the AMP Zakat Fund in 2022!
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam and one of its defining characteristics. No other religion places such great emphasis on social equity through voluntary charitable contributions. In more than 30 verses of the Holy Qur’an, the giving of Zakat is coupled with prayer (Salah) as a hallmark of the faithful, representing the core economic pillar of Islam.
The AMP Zakat Fund (AZF) was established 11 years ago with a core focus on Education and Self-Employment for underprivileged Muslims. Alhamdulillah, it has grown multi-fold from a humble collection of Rs. 2 lakhs in 2013 to Rs. 1,67,73,857 from 15,000+ Donors in 2022.
Our Mission: To help *make the Zakat Seekers of today become the Zakat Givers of tomorrow*.

Note:
- The total amount includes disbursements made between 1st April 2021 and 22nd March 2022.
- The remaining balance every year gets carried forward to the subsequent year’s fund.
- Specific donations are designated by Donors for particular beneficiaries or activities.
Key Impact Areas
Higher Education Scholarships
Supported 1,262 meritorious, financially needy students in Medical (MBBS), Engineering, and Law courses across India with scholarships of Rs. 10,000 – Rs. 50,000.
Orphans’ Basic Education
Provided basic schooling support to 495 needy orphan children across India through city chapters to prevent dropouts, with approximately 60% being girls.
Self-Employment Assistance
Provided Rs. 25,000 – Rs. 50,000 grants to 257 individuals to launch small businesses, including sewing machine drives and Khidmat skill centers for women.
Medical Support
Channelled Rs. 10,30,442 in remaining Covid/medical relief funds to selected partner hospitals treating poor and critically ill patients unable to afford care.

Distributed 8,000+ emergency Ration Kits worth Rs. 56+ Lakhs to needy families across 150+ Indian cities during Ramzan through IndiaZakat and volunteer teams.
Impact Highlights & Livelihood Case Studies
Higher Education Scholarships: Through the Higher Education Scholarship project, AMP supported 1,262 financially needy students pursuing professional courses. These scholarships ranged from Rs. 10,000 – Rs. 50,000 and were distributed to the most deserving and meritorious students selected from 1,500+ applications received from across India, focusing on Medical students (MBBS), as well as Engineering and Law students.
Orphans’ Basic Education: Financial support was provided for the basic schooling of 495 needy orphan children through AMP’s vast network of city chapters, ensuring they are not deprived of basic education for lack of a guardian. Approximately 60% of supported students were girls.
Self-Employment Assistance: Seed capital of largely Rs. 25,000 – Rs. 50,000 each was provided to 257 unemployed poor individuals to start small businesses, focusing especially on widows and elderly people in rural areas:
- Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh Livelihood Support: AMP Kanpur Chapter distributed 20 sets of sewing machines to needy widows for their livelihood support at Kanpur City. This helped widow women to improve their economic status and their families through business skills and education, finding their own employment through skill development and a reliable income source.
- Other Livelihood Support – Khidmat Skill & Learning Center (Sitamarhi, Bihar): Empowering women utilizes creativity & enterprise to break the cycle of poverty. An initiative of Neeti Foundation established a centre of skills & training for Muslim women with full training in sewing, fashion design, embroidery & tailoring, empowering marginalized women with the tools and skills to lift themselves out of poverty.
- Similarly, many other individuals, poor men and women, were helped across the Country to start livelihoods and take care of their families.
Medical Support: As part of our Covid Relief efforts, we helped covid patients in our Chapters around the Country with Oxygen Cylinders and other medical supplies. Following the pandemic, remaining funds (Rs. 10,30,442) were channeled to selected partner hospitals treating very poor and critically ill patients so that these funds could be better utilised.
AMP’s Mission of Feed the Poor & Needy Cause!
“Ramzan, the Blessed Month, is upon us, Alhamdulillah! It’s a month when each good deed of a Momin multiplies 70 times, SubhanAllah!”
Besides Fasting, Salah & Recitation of the Holy Qur'an, we also need to help those in our community who are unable to celebrate because of poverty and hunger. In the same way that we partake in this holy month and break our fasts with family and friends, we should help in providing meals to those who cannot afford to provide for themselves.
AMP rose to the occasion and launched its countrywide campaign (#FeedthePoor) on IndiaZakat.com (IZC) to provide Ration Kits to the poor and needy during lockdown. We distributed around 8,000+ Ration Kits worth more than Rs. 56+ Lakhs from both IndiaZakat.com platform as well as by AMP Teams, among needy families in 150+ cities across India.
These ration kits were distributed across cities, both big and small, through our strong network of volunteers who helped in sourcing, packing, transportation and distribution to needy families.
Three Years of IndiaZakat.com
IndiaZakat.com (IZC), India’s premier Zakat crowdfunding portal, was launched in 2020 by AMP on the eve of Ramzan. Connecting Zakat Givers directly with verified Zakat Seekers online, IZC has raised more than Rs. 14+ Crores through 47,000+ donations, helping over 32,000+ individuals, families, and grassroots NGOs.
