AMP Zakat Fund Report 2022

AMP Zakat Fund - Report 2022
2024 Deserving & Underprivileged lives touched by AMP Zakat Fund!

Zakat is one of the 5 pillars of Islam and one of its most defining characteristics. No other theological religion places such a great emphasis on social equity through voluntary contribution of Charity. In more than 30 verses of the Holy Qur’an, the giving of Zakat is included along with the worshipping of the Lord Almighty (Salah) as the most desirable qualities of the faithful. It is the third pillar of Islam which represents the economic aspect of Islam.

AMP   Zakat   Fund (AZF), was started 11 years ago with a focus of utilizing it for Education and Self-employment of underprivileged Muslims. Alhamdulillah! It has grown multi-fold from a collection of merely Rs. 2 lakhs in 2013 to Rs. 1,67,73,857 from 15000+ Donors in the year 2022. One of the main objectives of AMP Zakat Fund is to help make the Zakat Seekers of today become the Zakat Givers of tomorrow. Please find below the details of AMP Zakat Fund from 2013-2022;

The focus was on Medical Students (MBBS), scores of Engineering and as well as Law students were supported to complete their education.

Orphans’ Basic Education:

We provided financial support for the Basic Education of 495 needy Orphan children through AMP’s vast network of city chapters, so that these children are not deprived of even the basic education for want of a guardian. Out of these there were approx. 60% were Girls.

Self-Employment Assistance:

The Self-Employment Assistance of largely Rs. 25000 – 50,000 each was provided to young, talented but 257 unemployed poor, within the community to start a small business with the objective of promoting Self-Employment. This assistance was provided across the Country, mainly focusing on Rural areas. The focus was on widows and old people to start some self- sustainable activity;

  • Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh Livelihood Support: AMP Kanpur Chapter distributed 20 sets sewing machines to needy widows for their livelihood support at Kanpur City. This helped widow women to improve their economic status & their families through business skills & education. They had found their own employment with the help of skill development. It’s been a source to generate income for these women.

  • Other Livelihood Support: Khidmat Skill & Learning Center and Sitamarhi, Bihar Empowering women utilizes creativity & enterprise to break the cycle of poverty for Indian women. They are creating an environment of self-determinism & economic independence for marginalized women by harnessing their local craft traditions.  An initiative of Neeti Foundation, through this project of neeti foundation, they have  establishing centre of skills & training for Muslim women with full training in sewing, fashion design, embroidery & tailoring. Our livelihood project is transformative, empowering the most marginalized people of our community with the tools & skills to lift themselves out of poverty.

Similarly, there were many other individuals, poor men and women, who were helped across the Country to start livelihoods and take care of their families.

Medical Support:

As part of our Covid Relief efforts, we had helped covid patients in our Chapters around the Country with Oxygen Cylinders and other medical supplies. However, we had received some funds for this cause rather late from some of our Associates.

Since the pandemic was over and there were no more Covid patients to be treated, we decided to utilise these funds for the poor and needy patients needing medical assistance.

We thus helped a few selected hospitals with the Zakat funds which were treating very poor patients so  that these funds could be better utilised.

AMP's Mission of Feed the Poor & Needy Cause!

Ramzan, the Blessed Month, is upon us, Alhamdulillah! It's a month when each good deed of a Momin multiply 70 times, SubhanAllah!

Besides Fasting, Salah & Recitation of Holy Qur'an, we also need to help those in our community who are not able to celebrate because of poverty and hunger. In the same way that we are able to partake in this holy month and break our fasts with family and friends, we should help in providing meals to those who cannot afford to provide for themselves.

AMP had rose to the occasion and launched its Countrywide campaign (#FeedthePoor) on IndiaZakat.com (IZC) to provide Ration Kits to the Poor and Needy during Lockdown. We distributed around 8000+ Ration Kits worth more than Rs. 56+ Lakhs from both IndiaZakat.com platform as well as by AMP Teams, among needy families in 150+ cities across India.

These ration kits were distributed across cities, both big and small and we were able to reach many families because of our strong network of volunteers who helped in sourcing, packing, transportation and distribution to the needy families.
