AMP Governing Council

After its inception, AMP has grown both in terms of its activities and in terms of fellow members. AMP’s Governing Council is a team of dedicated professionals and highest decision making body of AMP, who work tirelessly to implement the projects of AMP. Their task is to control the activities so that it is carried out in efficient manner. The GC members are enriched with good experience and capability to work inexhaustibly to execute AMP's projects in favour and on behalf of the masses. As the name AMP suggests, most of its members are professionals and experts in their concerned fields.

Mr. Aamir Edresy, Mumbai
President, Association of Muslim Professionals

Aamir Edresy is a Software Engineer by qualification, Businessman by profession and a Social Activist by passion. He is a ‘Man with a Mission’, the mission to evolve the Indian Muslim community into an Intellectually Progressive, Socially Dynamic and Economically Potent community of conscientious individuals who will significantly contribute to the development of the Nation.  As the President and Founder of AMP, he has quite ably led AMP from its inception to its present status of being a vibrant pan-India organization of dynamic individuals.

As a person he is quite level-headed and mature and capable of taking tough decisions. He has the ability to put a team together and lead everyone to deliver to the best of their potential. He has an eye for identifying talent and exhort people to explore their hidden potential and challenge conventions. He is enthusiastic, ambitious and a great thinker who is able to devise fundamental strategies for the development of the community. He has exceptional interpersonal skills and networking abilities which is quite evident from his strong social network across India which includes Professionals, Students, Politicians, Bureaucrats, Social Leaders and Ulema. He is also quite erudite in the matters of public administration and political governance and is abreast with all the recent developments and changes in Government Policies. Aamir has been invited by Governments of important countries around the World for various programmes, like the Youth Leadership Development Programme in USA and other similar programmes in Iran, UAE etc.

Aamir Edresy is a “Leader” in every sense of the word. A true leader’s excellence does not lie in his individual achievements but in his ability to push others to achieve new milestones.  It lies in his ability to act as a catalyst of change. It is this what sets him apart from the rest.

He strongly believes in the credo of John Quincy Adams, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader!”. He has proven to be a visionary and undoubtedly a great leader. 


Mr. Mohd Shahanshah Ansari, Ghazipur (UP), Columbus (USA)
Head, General Administration, Association of Muslim Professionals

Mohammed Shahanshah Ansari hails from a much respected family of freedom fighters and Nationalist bureaucrats from District Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, he is currently posted in Columbus, USA. His grandfather Late Jb. Haji Ahmed Ali Ghazipuri was an admirer of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, was a Freedom Fighter and served in the Azad Hind Fauj. Mohammad Shahanshah is a man with profound thoughts, being one of the co-founders of AMP he was highly instrumental in setting up and implementing various policies and framework within AMP as a General Administration Head. Apart from AMP, on the social front he is also involved with a couple of other organizations working for the welfare of the downtrodden.

Mohammad Shahanshah is a Senior Software Engineer by profession with over 14 years of industry experience. He has completed his Master of Computer Application from Rajiv Gandhi Technical University in 2006 and has worked in India as well as abroad for some of the prestigious organizations which include Saudi Arabian Airlines, Saudi Electricity Company, SAP Global Delivery, BHP Billiton Singapore etc. He is an expert in SAP Data Migration, SAP Master Data Governance and currently working as Technical Leader for one of the Fortunte 10 Companies in the United States of America.

His adheres to the lines of Abraham Lincoln, “I do the very best I know how - the very best I can; and I mean to keep on doing so until the end.”

 

Mr. Soheb Selia, Mumbai
General Secretary, Association of Muslim Professionals

Soheb Selia iss actively associated with AMP since its early days and is  one of the co-founders of AMP. He heads the Organizing, Planning & Implementation vertical at AMP and has been instrumental in planning and implementing all critical activities and projects of AMP since its inception. Apart from being a thorough professional he is  passionate about working for the upliftment of the community.
 
He is a stickler to the principles of Total Quality Management as a management philosophy that aims to harness the human and  material resources in the most effective way to achieve the objectives of the organization and abides by it as well.

On the professional front Soheb is working as Associate Vice President - MIS & Analytics with Reliance Capital Asset  Management. He has a rich experience of around 20 years in Corporate Planning & Business Reporting department in Group  Companies of Aditya Birla Group and Reliance ADAG Group.

He goes by the lines of Mahatma Gandhi, “If I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”

 

Mr. Javed Mohammed Sayed, Mumbai
Finance Secretary, Association of Muslim Professionals 

Javed is an Entrepreneur and a talented Freelance Graphic Designer having 15+ years of experience in Design & Printing. He is the Proprietor of a design firm "Zeba Arts" based in Mumbai. He has been doing various designing assignments for numerous print as well as electronic Advertisements for many corporate and business houses. His talent has been well recognized and suitably utilized at AMP where he Heads the design Team in addition to the role of Finance Secretary. 

Javed Mohammed Sayed comes from one of the early business families which came down to Mumbai. He comes across as a person with a tough exterior but a soft interior and  is always ready to extend a helping hand to anyone who comes asking for help. He usually comes out with lots of innovative business ideas, while at the same time he is genuinely and deeply concerned for the welfare of the community.

 

Mr. Abdul Razak Shaikh, Thane (Mumbai)
Head, Projects, Association of Muslim Professionals

Abdul Razak Shaikh heads the Organizing, Planning & Implementation of all Projects at AMP. Apart from being a thorough professional  he is passionate about working for the upliftment of the community. He is actively associated with AMP since last 7 years.
He is a go-getter and believes in aggressively pursuing goals, whether of professional kind or the goals of AMP in reaching out to the maximum underprivileged sections of the Community. 

On the professional front Abdul Razak is working as Vice President – Marketing & Sales with IDFC Mutual Fund. He has a rich experience of around 15 years in Corporate Planning, Marketing Strategy, Manpower Planning and Business Development of various Business groups like HDFC, Reliance and IDFC Group.

He goes by the lines of the Beloved Prophet (PBUH), “None of you truly believes until he wishes for his brother, what he wishes for himself.”

 

Mr. Syed Najeeb-Ur-Rahman, Mumbai
Assistant Professor with University of Mumbai

Syed Najeeb-Ur-Rahman belongs to a high profile family of professionals with an illustrious lineage and is himself a management professional. His father had retired as a Marine Engineer who had participated in the War of Goa’s liberation and the Indo-Pak War of 1971 during his service with the Indian Navy. Najeeb likes to take a lot of initiatives and is always on his feet for any community initiative. He is also a gifted speaker and has exceptional oratory and communications skills.This personal trait has encouraged him to be a part of AMP in its budding stage, he is one of its co-founders. He heads PR & Communications, supervises the content creation and looks after media relations at AMP.

By qualification Najeeb is an MBA post graduate and is a Sales & Marketing expert having been engaged in various roles in Business Development, Sales, Marketing Operations, Training & Development, etc. He has worked in MNCs across various geographies both in India & abroad, in various domains including Advertising, Telecom, Aviation and IT winning various accolades. He has been invited as a ‘Guest Lecturer’ to various colleges which include Schools and Colleges as well as Management institutes, Engineering Colleges, Architecture College and various other Academic Institutions and even by the Department of Education. Presently he is offering services as a Business Strategy Consultant and a Corporate Trainer, he is also engaged as Assistant Professor with University of Mumbai in its Management institute. 

Najeeb has been able to put his expertise to good use at AMP as one of its innovative thinkers and has played an important role since it's inception and for its expansion as well. On the personal front he enjoys striking a pleasant conversation with those around and loves to stay fit.

His favourite lines are from the poem by Robert Frost, ‘Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening’ which goes as such..…“The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep.”

 

Padma Shri Prof Jalees Ahmed Khan Tareen, Mysore (Karnataka)
An Acclaimed Scientist, Institution Builder, Author, Social Worker and an Artist

Padma Shri Prof Jalees Ahmed Khan Tareen is from Mysore, born in 1947. He holds a Master’s degree in Geology, PhD in Experimental Mineralogy, D.Sc., in Material Science from France. Served as prof at University of Mysore for 13 years in a total service of 30 years at Mysore university. Also worked as visiting scientist at Tokyo Institute of Techn ology, University of Edinburgh and Lab de chimie de solid, France besides as visiting prof at Mekele University, Ethiopia. Published over 70 research papers cited over 450 times, guided 8 PhD students, and developed the first high temp - pressure lab of the country in 1977.

Recipient of Mysore University Golden Jubilee Award, P R J Naidu Gold medal, National Mineral Award from Govt. of India and Padma Shri. He served as Vice chancellor to Kashmir University, Pondicherry Central University and BS Abdirahman Rahman University, and also as member of UGC. He was also CEO of South Asia Foundation. 

He is also an artist and has his personal Modern Art Gallery. He founded the Muslim Educational Society at Mysore in 1976 and is the president of the society now. He has authored several books and his autobiography, RISE OF A BAREFOOT BOY is the recent release. He is an acclaimed scientist, institution builder, Author, Social worker and an artist."

 

Dr. Raheijuddin Sheikh (Shamu)
Academician & Author

Hailing from a humble village in Sangaiyumpham, Thoubal District, Manipur, Dr. Md. Raheijuddin Sheikh, also known to the youth by his pseudo name Shamu, is a well-known writer and teacher by profession. He has been honoured with many prestigious awards in the National & State levels for his literary and academic works, some of which include Akashvani Award for the best script writer in the All India Competition for Radio Playwrights 2000, State Level Teachers Day 2014 Awards for his outstanding contributions towards Government’s initiatives for successful establishment of the first Community College in Manipur, the best Director Award in the India Expo TV Company Rankings 2017, Best Script in the Rupamahal Artistes Memorial Drama Festival 2016 etc.

He is an Artiste and TV Anchor for the Science Promotion and Quiz Programmes. Dr. Sheikh is now serving as the Director, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Centre for Knowledge Acquisition and Up gradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood (DDU Centre for KAUSHAL) and the Nodal Officer of the Dhanamanjuri Community College based at D M College of Science Imphal, in addition to his normal duty of teaching Physics in the post graduate levels and guiding research under Manipur University. Dr. Sheikh did his BSc from D M College of Science, Imphal, MSc in Physics from Manipur University, PhD from Gauhati University, Guwahati. His main area of research is Physics for Cultural Heritage. He has published more than 25 research papers in the UGC listed Journals, 7 academic books in the field of his research work, two other books in literature. He has completed the Australia-India Vocational Educational Leadership Training (VELT) Programme 2017-18 under the Australian TAFE Directors. He has actively participated in the formulation of the draft of the New Education Policy (NEP) with special focus on Integrating Skill Development in the higher education.

He is a life member of the Physics Academy of the North East (PANE), member of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM), Member of the Chief Minister’s Steering Committee on Priority Development Programmes, Member of the Drafting Committee on the State Higher Education Plan 2018-19 under Rashtriya Uchhattar Sikhsya Abhiyan (RUSA), Member of the All Manipur Muslims Welfare Association (AMPWA), Member of the Association of Muslims Professionals (AMP), etc. He has also served as the Secretary to the Manipur State Minorities Commission from 2009 to 2012. He is influenced by Rudyard kipling’s poem “If”.

 

Prof. Sabiha Hussain, New Delhi
Director at Sarojini Naidu Centre for Women’s Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia

Prof. Sabiha Hussain is a Professor and Director at Sarojini Naidu Centre for Women’s Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia. Before joining to Jamia Millia Islamia worked for a decade at the Centre for Women’s Development Studies, New Delhi and completed two major research projects and participated in various discussions and debates on gender rights issues. Have published research articles in reputed international and national journals and have authored four books on the contemporary issues of women especially Muslim women. 

She is currently working on two major research projects funded by Ministry of Women and Child Development, GOI and Indian Council of Social Science Research respectively. She has presented research papers at various national and international forums. She is an editor of UGC approved journal Women’s Link. She is an activist and a strong advocator of women’s rights. 

She was nominated for International Visitor Leadership Programme of Government of United States of America and also by UN-HABITAT and University of East London for a workshop on land, property and housing rights in the Muslim world, at International Islamic University, Malaysia.

She has obtained MA, M.Phil and Ph.D degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and member of governing body of various research and civil society organizations along with members of various academic society and Associations.

 

Mrs. Falaknaz Danish Shaikh, Mumbai
Principal In-Charge of a Law College in Mumbai

Mrs. Falaknaz Danish is an academician and by profession Principal In-Charge of a Law College. She is a double graduate, double Post-Graduate. She is currently pursuing Ph. D at Law from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

Hailing from a family of five sisters orphaned at a very young age and a widowed mother, each of them pursued education with determination and hard work and presently have created a mark in their respective fields. 

She is a multi-faceted lady with a pleasantly striking persona, positively impacting and inspiring those around, is slowly climbing one step at a time with a mission to bring forth the face of ‘Muslim Woman’ as an Intellectually Progressive, Dynamic, Socially and Economically Potent individual who is given a distinct identity and rights under the Shariah Law. She wants the ‘Muslim Woman’ to emerge as an ideal lady within the realms of Islam, in the presently construed suppressed image of Muslim Women in India. 

A mature, level-headed, independent woman with great oratory skills. She has been vocal in many articles and publications for stressing the importance of education for upliftment and development of the community and thereby the society. She has been invited as a ‘Guest Lecturer’ to various Colleges and Institutions which has enabled others to be inspired towards innovative positive thinking and bringing more meaning in their lives, rather than staying in dejection or suppression and without resorting or exhibiting revolt or rebellion against the most complete pro-women religion in the world, Islam. 

In fact, her ideology and mettle is sealing positivity in her following words:
“Muqammal Muslimah: Ek haath mein Kitaab (Constitution) aur Ek haath mein Shariah (Quran).”

 

Mrs. Fathima Asif, Bengaluru (Karnataka)
Entrepreneur

Fathima Asif has done her Diploma in Communication from ILFC, PARIS. Currently she is the Director- Womens Committee of the Indian Economic Trade Organization, a business intelligence unit that is working towards filling gaps between Academia and Industry. IETO also serves as a "call to action" for universities regarding the need to close a widening gap between the Business Intelligence skills of university graduates. IETO has various Industry Leaders, Business Analysts, Leading Economists, Retired Bureaucrats on board to advise the industry and Academia. 

Fathima Asif spearheads the womens committee and travels all over the globe bringing in latest trends of technologies available globally and connect them to Indian Academia to increase employability and career opportunities.  Fathima Asif has led women business entrepreneurship delegations to Latin America, Turkey, Papua New Guinea, Suriname, France, UK and Netherlands etc. 

 

Dr. Faiza Abbasi, Aligarh (UP)
Assistant Professor, Aligarh Muslim University
 
Dr Faiza Abbasi is an Assistant Professor at Aligarh Muslim University. She has been holding the post of Assistant Director at the UGC HRD, AMU since Session 2011-12. Her major job profile is organizing and conducting Teacher Training Courses of Higher Educational Institutions across the country. She has gained diverse experience of educational management and coordination  by reaching out to the Minority Managed Institutions through academic leadership training under an MHRD project named CALEM of which she is Assistant Project Coordinator. She has also been contributing to the personality development of AMU school children through an American Centre sponsored program at the AMU.
 
She earned a PhD from and gained teaching experience at the Department of Wildlife Sciences, AMU. Presently she teaches various UG Level electives like Environmental Studies in F/o Islamic Theology and Wildlife Biology in D/o Zoology, AMU.

She regularly conducts prestigious University events as Compere and  acts on such committees as drafting AMU Annual Report to be presented in Parliament and Alumni Affairs.

She has published three books, 80 articles/papers and delivered hundreds of talks and lectures all over the country. Her main research interest is Islamic Eco-theology in which she has several publications and delivered lectures. She has pursued a Diploma in Quranic Sciences from the K A Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies and at the Centre she speaks regularly for YouTube lecture series. She also takes up creative writing in English and Urdu as a hobby.

She belongs to Gorakhpur, in eastern UP. Donating an inherited property, she has founded and runs ‘Ebadat Charities’ for educational development, modern capacity building and vocational training of Madarsa women in the region.

 

Ms. Irena Akbar, Lucknow (UP)
Entrepreneur and Writer

Irena Akbar has 14 years of experience in the English-language print news media in Delhi.  She has worked with reputed names such as the India Today group, The Pioneer, the Asian Age and The Indian Express. Her most valuable stint was with The Indian Express where she worked for eight years and was Special Correspondent. At the Express, she did significant stories related to the socioeconomic issues of Muslims, as well as wrote opinion pieces reflecting the minority voice. She also freelanced as a casual English-language news reader with All India Radio at its headquarters in Delhi.

In 2016, she took early, voluntary retirement from full-time journalism and took up an entrepreneurial role for herself. She is now based in her hometown Lucknow from where she runs her store, Baradari: A House of Arts and Crafts, which is an endeavour to promote handwritten Islamic calligraphy by giving it a modern twist through digital colouring and printing on canvas. 

Even though her entrepreneurship occupies most of her time, Irena Akbar continues to voice her concerns for the Muslim community through her contributions to newspapers and websites, as well as through her Facebook posts and tweets.

Social Activist & Founder President of Char and Rural Development Society (CARDS)

Shaheen Hussain Nongbri is the Founder & President of Char and Rural Development Society (CARDS) which runs CARDS modern School, CARDS vocational training Centre, especially for women. CARDS has been associated with Control Arms Foundation of India (CAFI) as a partner for the state of Assam. 
Working for women in the conflict zones, helping them to sustain livelihood, she has been providing education to the under privileged children at Char area. She works on education and empowerment of women survivors of violence. She aims for empowerment of women through livelihood skill training such as vocational training in Weaving and other trades. 

She is a well-known voice in the 'Women Rights' movement. Her recent work gives emphasis to awareness programmes on 'Legal Aspects' as a protection mechanism along with education, that being the most important in order to bring change in the society regarding the status of women. 
She was also awarded 'Excellence in Social Service Award - 2016, by News 30 conclave. 

Recently she was invited as a speaker to represent Assam in the International Conference on Deepening Diversity, Women’s Rights And Democracy, along with speakers and delegates from UN, European Union and other countries.


Mr. Mohammad Fahad Alam, Gorakhpur, India
Technocrat & Entrepreneur

Mohammad Fahad Alam belongs to a very well-known family of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. Fahad is keenly interested to work for the social causes that are for the betterment of the society and that is the reason he has been connected with AMP (since long) to uplift the standard of Muslim Community in Education and Employment. 
Until recently Fahad was based in Kuwait and ably handled the AMP Chapter activities there. He also provides a significant contribution on the social media.

Fahad Alam is a B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering and currently based in Kuwait working as Telecom Engineer. Graduated in 2005, he carries 13 good years of professional experience with him in IT & Telecom sector.
