Mega Job Fair organized by AMP in Surat

130 Candidates hired on spot and 550 shortlisted in the first ever Mega Job Fair organized by AMP in Surat, Gujarat

"Feeding somebody is considered a great act of Charity, however helping somebody get a job will not only feed the individual but the entire family” - Mr. Mukesh Vasava, Regional Deputy Director (Employment), South Gujarat Region.

Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) in association with Surat Islam Yatimkhana Society (SIYS) and Progressive Muslim Education Trust (PMET) organized a Mega Job Fair in Surat on Sat, 27th Jan ‘18, which was a huge success. For this Job Fair, the organisers tied up with the Model Career Centre, Surat (MCC) an initiative of the Central Govt. and State Govt. of Gujarat. The event was conducted at the Campus of Surat Islam Yatimkhana to help unemployed youths of Surat to get placed in reputed Corporates and to provide job opportunities to the needy without any discrimination of caste and creed. Through this unique event, the organizers endeavored to help in Nation Building by providing suitable jobs to the unemployed and under-employed youth.

40 Corporates from across various industries participated in this Job Fair with a massive turnout of more than 1200+ candidates. At the end of the day around 130 candidates were given on-the-spot offers by the recruiters while 550 plus candidates were shortlisted for the next round of selection.  

The Job Fair was inaugurated by Mr. Yunus Chakkiwala - President SIY, who while speaking at the occasion said that “SIYS has been into Community and Nation Building for the past more than 100 years and organising this job fair was one way to take our objective forward of serving the Nation”. He also appreciated and thanked the entire team of AMP & PMET for organising such a successful job fair and welcomed the Guests and participating Corporates.

Mr. Mukesh Vasava, Regional Deputy Director (Employment), South Gujarat Region, was the Guest of Honor. He was extremely delighted to be in the SIY Campus for the Job Fair as he had visited it 2 decades ago as an Observer for the SSC exams. He addressed the participants and said “We need to be disciplined and hardworking to progress in our Career as well as Life and advised the youngsters against giving excuses and blaming others. He further thanked AMP and the organisers for partnering with MCC and honouring their team”.

Mr. Razak Shaikh, Head- AMP Employment Cell, welcomed the Guests and the participants and spoke about how AMP was started 10 years back with the question “Can educated Professionals contribute to Nation Building?”, He added “We ask what our Country has given us, but the Educated class needs to ask themselves what are we giving back to the Society?”

He further mentioned that “Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) has been contributing in Nation building with its various initiatives of Skill Development Lectures (SDLs) and its Employment Assistance Cell (EAC) through its 80 city-Chapters all over the Country. We have a strong base of over 4000 volunteers who are working professionals and help in reaching 300 schools for SDLs and at the same time have helped about 12000+ educated and semi-educated youth get suitable jobs through our Job Fairs and Job Drives all over the Country.”

Mr. Jabir ChoksiState Co-ordinator - AMP Gujarat, was responsible for co-ordinating with the Partner Organisations in Surat for organizing the Job Fair. He mentioned how he traveled last November to Aurangabad to experience first-hand the Job Fair held by AMP for the children and relatives of Aurangabad Police Dept. He thanked the partner-Organisations (SIYS & PMET), MCC Surat Team and the AMP Central & Admin teams for organizing the Job Fair so successfully.

Mr. Nayyar Hashmi, Director, Ciel HR, a participating Corporate was all praises for the efficient organizing of the Job Fair and for providing such a great platform for the Corporates of Surat and Gujarat. He said “We wish these kind of Job Fairs are held regularly and in other cities of Gujarat as well.”

Mr. Soheb Selia, Organising Secretary - AMP said, AMP has worked selflessly for the sake of Indian Youth for the last 10 years through its various initiatives like Career FestsSkill Development Lectures (SDLs), Employability Training Programmes (ETPs), Job Drives & Job Fairs etc. We are now getting into the next phase of our growth, where we will be focusing on Initiatives which will bring the marginalized and the underserved Communities into the mainstream through Economic empowerment.

Mr. Iftekhar Shaikh, Team Lead – AMP EAC, said “Partnerships & collaborations with like-minded Organisations and various Government agencies will give us the right opportunity to transform and empower the underprivileged so they too can contribute significantly to India’s growth story.”

The event was a result of dedication and hard work of AMP Team Members under the guidance of its Central Team. The SIYS and PMET team members and volunteers along with the MCC team supported the AMP Team very ably in organizing and managing the Job Fair successfully.
