Mumbai’s important Muslims attend IndiaZakat.com’s 5-year Celebration Meet
IndiaZakat.com has completed 5 Years of its impactful service for the welfare of the Community. It is India’s 1st Zakat-based crowdfunding platform, a pioneering and revolutionary initiative by the Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP). Launched just before Ramzan in the year 2020, IndiaZakat has emerged as a beacon of hope and compassion for the underprivileged.
As part of the 5 years celebration, AMP organised a meeting on Friday, 28th February 2025, at Islam Gymkhana, Mumbai, to present the achievements of IndiaZakat and how it can be used effectively to help poor and needy people. In the last 5 years, IndiaZakat has raised over INR 23.90 crores through more than 80,000 Donations and positively impacted the lives of more than 40,000+ individuals and their families through 7,500+ Causes raised across India for Orphans & Poor childrens’ Basic Education, Higher Education Support, Medical & Disaster Relief, Livelihood Assistance etc.

Adv. Yusuf Abrahani, Former MLA & President, Islam Gymkhana, lauded the work of AMP & IndiaZakat for helping to uplift thousands of disadvantaged individuals. He said that as Muslims we are responsible for our condition and we should help AMP & IndiaZakat in their excellent journey for Education and Empowerment.
Iqbal Memon Officer, noted Social Worker & President – All India Memon Jamat Federation, while praising IndiaZakat’s achievements, also made a special mention of AMP’s Job Fairs which help jobless youths with Jobs and Employability Training for Career opportunities.
Aamir Edresy, President – AMP, while giving a lowdown about the platform to the significant Muslims of Mumbai, mentioned that AMP had started it’s AMP Zakat Fund in 2013 for helping the underprivileged in the Community through Education & Livelihood Support. However, there was a need for online Zakat portal so that issues like Transparency and Real time updates could be featured. Alhamdulillah, we launched IndiaZakat, 5years ago and the rest is History.
He further added that although IndiaZakat is highly successful platform, it needs to break fresh grounds by reaching out to the smaller towns and villages. For that IndiaZakat Society will be set up in 100 districts to cater to the local needy people in the domains mentioned above. These societies will be formed by local business men, social leaders, professionals, policy makers etc. He also informed that IndiaZakat will be used in adopting deprived villages and convert them into model villages in a similar way that Badmer in Rajsthan was being helped by IndiaZakat with Livelihood opportunities, Water wells, House construction etc.
Iftekhar Bidkar, Project Head - IndiaZakat, reflected on the journey of launching the platform, stating, "Five years ago, the idea of IndiaZakat was a dream, but with the determination and support of like-minded individuals, we turned that dream into reality. IndiaZakat serves to transform Zakat seekers into Zakat givers and thus uplift the underprivileged."
He further added that the best part of IndiaZakat is that it doesn't charge any fees or commission from Beneficiaries or Donors and 100% amount is disbursed to the beneficiaries, and it gives choice to donate to Causes of our own interest or of our own locations.
Various hi-profile attendees like Amin Patel, MLA - Mumbadevi Constitutuency, Nizamuddin Rayeen, Sr. Journalist & Congressman, Raees Lashkaria, Mumbai Head - AIMIM, Dr. Abdul Sattar Dewan, M.D. - Rajasthan Herbals, Farhan Makba, President – MESCO, Dr. Abdur Rauf Sumar, M H Saboo Siddique Hospital, Mehboob Patel, Anjuman Khairul Islam, Aziz Sawant, Noted Social Worker, Sameer Kazi, Chairman, Maharsahtra State Waqf Board were present, and few spoke about how IndiaZakat can be utilised for the betterment of needy individuals leading to Nation Building.ected and disbursed Rs. 5 Cr+ for different Causes making it one of the biggest charities in India. IndiaZakat's success is attributed to its dedicated teams, including the Advisory Board, Zakat Council, Technical, Operational, and Communication Teams, as well as the countless Volunteers who have contributed to its growth and impact.
