AMP successfully concludes its National Campaign celebrating Republic Day

Mumbai, 04th February 2017

Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) conducted a week long Nation-wide Campaign celebrating Republic Day. 26th January, 1950 marks the day when the Constitution of India was finally adopted, making the country a sovereign, secular, and democratic republic. It is known as ‘Gantantra Diwas’ in and the chief architect of the Constitution of India was Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

The lecture series titled – ‘Dastoor -e- Hind... Hamare Huqooq... Hamari Zimmedariyan’ translated as ‘Indian Constitution... Our Rights… Our Responsibilities’ aimed to create awareness and inspire the young minds of students from Higher Secondary School section towards importance of Republic Day. The session enlightened the children who got to know the rights and responsibilities we have as Indian citizens towards our nation. This gave us a sense of pride and patriotism, which we carry as Indians in our heart.

These lecture series were conducted in more than 300 schools across different cities in India. People involved in taking these lectures were  AMPs own team consisting of  volunteers and speakers spread across the country as wide as from Mumbai to Manipur and across the North and South of the Country benefiting more than 30,000 students in 60 cities.

To cover a few places who took part in the campaign were Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Chennai, Hubli, Lucknow, Rajapur, Indore, Nasik, Bijapur, Ahmedabad, Aurangabad right upto Mangrol, Itanagar, Nabha and Manipur. We had a few special lectures conducted in Mumbai. One such event was held on 2nd Feb 2017 at M. H. Saboo Siddique High School where Mr. Mohammed Farrok Gheewala (CMD of F. Gheewala Consultants) graced the occasion as a special guest and attended the event. Mr. Farrok Gheewala said, “Awareness is the need in today’s fast pace society as this brings about responsible citizens who are the future leaders of India”. He also added that, “The initiative taken by AMP is unique which contributes towards the growth of the society”. Mrs. Sakina Basta from Mumbai who has an extensive work experience in teaching by her side conducted this lecture. About 250 students attended the lecture and benefitted immensely. This campaign marks diversity in approach wherein people from different occupations come together to work towards the benefit of our future generations.

In addition, we had another lecture in Mumbai on 26th January, 2017 by AMP General Secretary, Mr. Syed Najeeb-Ur-Rahman, at Anjuman Khairul Islam High School, Madanpura, where he gave the inaugural lecture on the topic to more than 100 enthusiastic students. Miss. Rabia Qureshi, Principal In-charge of Anjuman Khairul Islam High School said, "It is heartening to see a team of young professionals working dedicatedly for such a noble cause. Such projects have a potential of becoming a life-changer for many in the long run. I salute AMPs efforts in this front and their National Spirit as well”.

Voicing concern over the ‘alarming’ situation prevailing in the country, AMP President Aamir Edresy told media reporters that “Such special National Campaigns bring about awareness amongst the youth which makes them aware of their rights and responsibilities”.  He further explained that “As a part of the campaign guidance lectures have been organised in Schools, Colleges, Madrasas and Community Centers to bring public awareness”.

Over all the campaign was well received by the school authorities and students who applauded the fact that there is one such organization in the country, which firmly believes in the saying but practising that “Actions speak louder than words”.
