Thane Police organizes a Mega Job Fair in association with DSDE&E, F. Gheewala Group and AMP

Mumbai 04 March, 2017:

The Job Fair was organized as a joint effort by ‘Naukri Centre’ of Thane Police in association with Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (DSDE&E), F. Gheewala group and AMP. The event was conducted at Siddhi Hall in Thane exclusively for the Family and Relatives of Thane Police Personnel, to help them get placed in reputed mainstream Corporates. 

The ‘Naukri Centre’ is a brain-child of the Commissioner of Police, Thane, Shri. Param Bir Singh and has been set up to facilitate the acquisition of rewarding careers for the relatives and children of Police Personnel and ex-Police Personnel from Thane Police.?

55 Corporates from across various industries had participated in this Job Fair with a massive turnout of more than 6,000 candidates.. At the end of the day around 662 candidates were given on-the-spot offers by the recruiters while 1,634 were shortlisted for the next round of selection.

The Job Fair was inaugurated by Mr. Deepak Kapoor (IAS), Principal Secretary, Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (DSDE&E), Govt. of Maharashtra, who seemed very pleased by this endeavour. He was enthused by the turnout and appreciated the efforts of all the organizers and wished them luck in their future endeavours. He particularly lauded the efforts of Thane Police, AMP & Gheewala group and expressed happiness in his department partnering with them. While addressing the gatherings he gave some very practical advice to the candidates regarding how to build a stable and successful career. He said, "I am overwhelmed to see the job aspirants over here. People talk about building the future of the country and you people are the future of our country. I am sure each of you has a good role to play in nation building”.

Mr.Param Bir Singh (IPS), Commissioner of Police, Thane communicated in absentia saying that he was overwhelmed by such a huge response and applauded Thane Police, F Gheewala and AMP’s efforts towards this welfare cause of helping the families and relatives of Police Personnel. 

Mr. Ashutosh Dumbare, Joint Commissioner of Police, Thane said that “We firmly believe in Social development through Economic empowerment and seek to be catalysts of change and progress in our great Nation. As such we are pleased that we could extend our humble services to the families of those who strive tirelessly for the peace and harmony of our country and dedicate their lives to the service of its citizens. We also appreciate the efforts of Mr.Farrok Gheewala and the AMP team to have assisted us in organizing such an event.”

When enquired about the idea behind such an event Mr. Yashashvi Yadav, Additional Commissioner of Police, Thane said, “The youth of our country possess a lot of potential and are quite skilled. However due to the current market scenario many a times they are not able to connect to the industry and do not get an opportunity to present their skills. Such events are needed to give everyone a fair chance to prove their potential. He also spent some time having a recce, interacting with the Corporates and understanding the entire event flow. Referring to AMP he said, “An event at such a scale, organized with immaculate precision could only be done by a professional organization such as AMP. When it comes to such event, we are amateurs and you people are the real professionals.”

Dr. Rashmi Karandikar, DCP, HQ-1, Thane Police, said “The response for this event has been quite overwhelming, it was both unprecedented as well as unanticipated. More than  6,000 candidates attended the Job fair in the hope of finding the ideal job which would fit their qualifications and personal requirements. We are glad that there are many more professional opportunities available for the kins of Police personnel to explore apart from Police Services.”

Farrok Gheewala, CMD, F. Gheewala Human Resource Consultants who was very instrumental to organize this Job Fair said, “We appreciate and thank Thane Police for providing us the opportunity to organise this job fair & providing job opportunities to children and relatives of police and ex-police officials”. He further said that he had also set up a table of his own organization to provide more variety of opportunities to deserving candidates in various functionalities, both in India and abroad. He further said, I am personally in touch with AMP and its activities and this is the 4th year of them conducting a Job Fair, with not less than 3 Job Fairs in a Year and numerous Job Drives across India. They seem to have become a ‘Pro’ at it.”

Aamir Edresy, President, AMP said, “AMP has repeatedly stated that the Indian Youth have a lot of potential and are very skilled, and given the right opportunity they can transform their lives for the better and significantly contribute to India’s growth story. We seek to be the bridge between them and a promising tomorrow. We firmly believe in this ideology of Empowerment. As Kofi Annan once said – There is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of People. We resolve to conduct more such events in the future through AMP’s Employment Cell and take up many similar initiatives to serve our fellow countrymen.”

Corporates from across various industries had participated in this Job Fair. Some major companies like Larsen & Toubro, Siemens, Bandhan Bank, Reliance Jio, HDFC Bank, Hexaware, Bajaj Alliance, F. Gheewala, Agha Caravan, etc had participated. The openings were not only for Freshers & experienced graduates but for undergraduates as well. Event gave a chance to the candidates to apply for vacancies in Sales, Marketing, Back Office, Admin and other departments of these prestigious companies. The recruiters when contacted also conveyed that they were indeed very pleased with the professional execution of the entire event, overwhelmed by the turnout and the quality of the individuals whom they interacted with.

Along with the above dignitaries all the senior officers from all the police stations under Thane  district and Mr.S.B Angane and Mr.Ayub Tamboli from DSDE&E department were present throughout the day.

The event was a result of dedication and hard work of AMP Team Members under the guidance of Mr.Razak Shaikh heading the AMP Employment cell under which the Job Fair Project is run, the team members of F.Gheewala group and most of all the police personnel who had very ably managed the crowd.
