IndiaZakat.com, India's 1st Zakat-based crowd-funding platform completes 5 glorious years!

IndiaZakat.com has completed 5 Years of its impactful service for the welfare of the Community.  It is India’s 1st Zakat-based crowdfunding platform, a pioneering and revolutionary initiative by the Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP). Launched just before Ramzan in the year 2020, IndiaZakat has emerged as a beacon of hope and compassion for the underprivileged.

 As part of the 5 years celebration, AMP organised an online meeting on Tuesday, 25th February 2025, to present the achievements of IndiaZakat and how it can be used effectively to help poor and needy people.

Indiazakat has raised over INR 23.75 crores through more than 80,000 Donations and positively impacted the lives of more than 40,000+ individuals and their families through 7,500+ Causes raised across India for Orphans & Poor childrens’ Basic Education, Higher Education Support, Medical & Disaster Relief, Livelihood Assistance etc.

Maulana Ahmad Faisal Wali Rahmani, Guest & Chairman - Imarat - e - Sharia: Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha conveyed his blessings and prayers for the platform to continue its good work for the Community and the Society.

Ameer Ahamed Manappat, Chairman & MD, Manappat Group, lauded AMP for setting up IndiaZakat and helping the needy and the poor. However, he said the problem of Poverty is huge in India and if each eligible muslim pays the religion mandated Zakat then people can be helped to come out of the same. He said that in the Holy Quran and the Prophet’s Hadiths it is clearly mentioned that paying Zakat does not reduce your wealth, on the contrary it is blessed and thus increases.

Aamir Edresy, President – AMP, while giving a lowdown about the platform to newer attendess among the audience, mentioned that although IndiaZakat is a highly successful platform, it needs to break fresh grounds by reaching out to the smaller towns and villages. For that IndiaZakat Society will be set up in 100 districts to cater to the local needy people  in the domains mentioned above. These societies will be formed by local business men, social leaders, professionals, policy makers etc.

He also mentioned that IndiaZakat will be used in adopting deprived villages and convert them into model villages in a similar way that Badmer in Rajsthan was being helped with Livelihood opportunities, Water wells, House construction etc.

Iftekhar Bidkar, Project Head - IndiaZakat, reflected on the journey of launching the platform, stating, "Five years ago, the idea of IndiaZakat was a dream, but with the determination and support of like-minded individuals, we turned that dream into reality. IndiaZakat serves to transform Zakat seekers into Zakat givers and thus uplift the underprivileged."

He further added that the best part of IndiaZakat is that it doesn't charge any fees or commission from Beneficiaries or Donors and 100% amount is disbursed to the beneficiaries, and it gives choice to donate to Causes of our own interest or of our own locations.

Various AMP Team Members and attendees spoke about their wonderful experience of helping needy people by raising their Causes on IndiaZakat and fulfilling them. They urged others present on the occasion to also utilise the platform and inform their contacts for doing the same.

The meeting was ably hosted by Dr. Zakaullah, a volunteer who donates his time as a Campaign Manager for IndiaZakat. Maualana Aqdas recited a few verses from the Holy Quran before the programme began and Ms. Aysha Mahmood welcomed the audience.
