More than 1300 UP School Students participated in
AMP Olympiad 2020
Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) organized a General Awareness Competition – AMP Olympiad 2020 - for School Students of classes VIII, IX and X of all UP Boards (ICSE, CBSE & State), named as 'Knowledge Pro' on Sun, 8th Nov ‘20. This was a State Level Olympiad which carried multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from various areas of School curriculum & General awareness.
The Olympiad was conducted online by AMP UP-State Team in conjunction with the Central Team in Mumbai. Totally 1300+ students from all over the state including Hindi & English medium children participated. The online question forms were in English as well as Hindi and were of 100 marks. The students had to finish all the questions in a limited timeframe and the Olympiad was open to students simultaneously all over the state.
There was no participation fee and it was a great opportunity for the students from all over the State to mentally challenge themselves and build up their confidence by competing with the students from different cities and knowing where they stand with their General Awareness.
The top 40 Award winners (10 winners from each of the 4 categories: 8th Std. - English & Hindi medium and 9th & 10th Std. – English & Hindi medium) were awarded with Prizes today in an Online function attended by special guests. Participation e-certificates were also given to all the students who participated in the Olympiad.
Janab Ahmed Azeez Sahab, Chief Guest, while addressing the excited students online, said “AMP has been doing great work in the field of Education. I have been observing them for the last more than 10 years and this new initiative of the Olympiad is a step in the right direction for making our Students more competitive on the National stage”.
Mr Aamir Edresy, President – AMP, whose continuous support to the project was appreciated by the State Team said “AMP’s vision is to create a Society which is advanced in Education and hence our projects and activities are aimed to make the Students progressive and up-to-date with the Challenges of the real world. The #COVID-19 pandemic didn’t dampen our spirit, instead, we took up the Challenge and carried our projects to a larger audience through online activities like this Olympiad. God willing, next year we will take this Olympiad to the National Level”
Janab Shahnawaz Khan Sb., AMP UP State Secretary & Principal of a popular school in Bareilly was the brain behind this Olympiad. According to him “AMP does a lot of free activities for the benefit of School students like the SDP Lectures, Career Guidance Seminars, Online Career Counselling etc. and I thought of taking these activities further. Thus was born the seed of AMP Olympiad in my mind, an activity which would help us in measuring the impact of our activities in various Schools. I hope we will continue with the Olympiad in the years to come so our students develop a competitive spirit”.
Miss. Shaheen Islam, AMP State Head, was quite ecstatic about the whole event and said “As UP State Head of AMP, it’s my responsibility to ensure that our activities reach the remotest Schools so the Students benefit and become responsible citizens. The Olympiad helped us to reach those schools and students who we hadn’t reached yet and will thus open up new avenues for AMPians to take their School Development Programme (SDP) activities to a larger audience.”
Mr Razak Shaikh, AMP Head of Projects, said “These kinds of new activities challenge our boundaries and we relish them as it allows us to grow beyond the normal. This Olympiad was unique and we had to co-ordinate with State Team very closely to ensure that each student who registered didn’t face any difficulty while appearing for the Olympiad.”
The Olympiad quiz proceeded smoothly along with the help of the various Chapter Teams of UP State and the innumerable AMPians on the ground.
