Association of Muslim Professionals AMP stands as one of those very few organizations and the only platform of Educated Muslim Youth & well-established professionals created with the purpose of giving back to the community. Skill Development Lectures also known as SDL is one of AMP's main Flagship Projects, which has been the most impactful as well. The idea is to try to do wholesome guidance of students/ prospects towards Career Planning and Self-Development.

Keeping the above aim in mind, we had organized Principal’s Meeting across Mumbai in the month of April 2017 to discuss the various initiatives taken by AMP. We reached out to various locations across Mumbai, which included Kurla, Madanpura, South Mumbai, Mira Road, and Govandi respectively. We also had a collective Principal Meeting of A. K. I. Urdu High School of all branches at their Head Office located at Nagpada. We now have plans to cover Malad and Wadala along with other parts of Mumbai in the near future.

The main objective of these meetings were to gain a one - time permission to conduct SDL’s on an ongoing basis. It also gave an opportunity for the schools to understand the activities to be covered under SDL for the next academic year. We also explained the various programs that will be included under the 3 different modules namely:

1. Career Planning
2. Personality Development
3. Value Education

We also gave an insight on the 3 National Campaigns organized by AMP which include:

·         26th January, Republic Day

·         15th August, Independence Day

·         11th November, Education Day

Apart from these, we also highlighted on Teachers Interactive Discussions and Parenting Workshops, which would be held across schools in the next academic year.

AMP President, Mr. Aamir Edresy personally covered most of the locations to reach out to maximum schools and understand the functioning across locations. Miss, Muzammil Banatwalla who is the Senior Project Coordinator for SDL, coordinated the entire program.

Overall, we received a positive response, which would help us in planning our activities for the schools and students to gain maximum from the program.

With the changing times, such initiatives by AMP would instil a sense of ownership in schools, students and speakers, which in turn would make this movement into a great success with the blessings of Allah swt.
