Convention Key Highlights
Day 1: Inaugural Ceremony & Key Dignitaries
Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) organized its National Convention on Saturday, 22nd February 2020 at the Indian Institute of Social Sciences in Bengaluru, hosted by Mr. Syed Nashit (Organizing Sec. AMP). Commemorating 12 eventful years, around 200 delegates from across India and abroad gathered under the banner of AMP's core mission: Engage, Educate, Employ, and Empower.
Chief Guest Mr. E. T. Mohammed Basheer (M.P. from Kerala & Organizing Gen Secretary, IUML) applauded AMP's completion of 12 years, emphasizing the strategic utilization of Zakat as a divine tool for poverty alleviation and pledging strong support for expansion in Northern India. Special Guest Mr. Syed Naseer Ahmed (M.P. Rajya Sabha from Karnataka) commended AMP's impactful work and committed full support to spread AMP across all 30 districts of Karnataka, urging Muslims to reinvent their rich heritage and stay culturally vibrant.
Mr. Shabbir Ahmed Ansari (President, All India OBC) shared insights from 40 years of pioneering the OBC constitutional movement and implored delegates to remain steadfast in the face of challenges. Padma Shri Prof. Jalees Khan Tareen presented extensive research on early childhood education, addressing minority school dropout rates, and creating professional achievers.
In his welcome address, Mr. Aamir Edresy (President, AMP) celebrated the journey from a non-entity to a global footprint with 100+ chapters pan-India and in 13 countries overseas, calling for an inclusive approach dedicated to peace and progress.

School Education: Roadmap 2.0
Mr. Mohammed Aaqil (ABB India), Md. Pervez Khan, Syed Sultan Ahmed (MD, LXL Ideas) on life skills over mere jobs, and Dr. Mushtaque Ahmed on overcoming victim mindsets through collaborative platforms.
Youth Employment & Skill Training
AK Mohammed Azad (Mirafra Technologies), Mohammed Farouq Khan (TCS), and Mohammed Hussain on career guidance, tech incubators, and bridging the gap between required and acquired industry skills.
Zakat & FinTech Models
Hosted by KM Riyazuddin (BPCL); H. Abdul Raqeeb (ICIF), Arshad Mirza (ECW), Dr. Ziyaad Mahomed (Malaysia), Jilu Miah (UK), and Mufti Faraz Adam (UK) on institutionalizing Zakat via FinTech and Bait-ul-Mal.
Challenges to the Constitution
Noted author and columnist Mr. Aakar Patel delivered an incisive address on defending constitutional rights peacefully through legal recourse and uniting with all citizens against divisive policies.
Afraad-Saazi (Leadership Grooming)
Dr. Taha Mateen (MD, HBS Hospital) spoke on character development and Islamic leadership principles, followed by a global video conference with international leaders including Mr. Abdullah Thakur (CEO, Dhow Capital).
Day 2: Global Chapters, Partnerships & Collaborations
The 2nd Day (Sunday, 23rd February 2020) at the Indian Social Institute commenced with 'AMP Global Leaders – Achievements & Aspirations', hosted by Mr. Mujtaba Umair (Head - NCT) and Mr. Farhan Khan (Head - Mumbai Chapter), with chapter delegations reviewing 2019 milestones and setting 2-year projections.
The Partnerships & Collaborations session, hosted by Miss Syeda Safoora (Executive Body Member, Bangalore), brought together key sector leaders:
- Mr. Sheriff Kottapurath (Director, Rehbar Finance Consultants) on institutionalizing Islamic Finance for community economic benefit.
- Mr. K. Abdur Rahman (Head Training & Placement, UNWO) on grass-roots empowerment models for underprivileged strata.
- Mr. Abdul Salaam U. M. (Kerala Coordinator, LEAD Talent Search Exam) on grooming community students for nationwide competitive tests.
- Mr. Mohammad Ashfaq (Founder & Director, Gravity Classes) on high-quality NEET and JEE coaching programs.
- Technology Pioneers: Mr. Nizam A. P. (Director, CIGI), Mr. Syed Mohammed Beary (MD, Hugesquare LLP), Mr. Shiraz Pasha (Head, Javasa Developers), and Mr. Nazeer Ahmed (CEO, Nexusinfo) on leveraging cutting-edge tech platforms.
Day 2 Sustainable Economics & National Awards
Sustainable Economic Agenda
Prof. Amirullah Khan (Director, MCR HRD Institute) on Housing & Credit, Dr. Shariq Nisar (Rizvi Institute), Mr. Ram N K (Founder, Rang De P2P), and Mr. Akramul Hoque (The Policy Times) on micro-finance.
National Awards for Teaching
AMP National Awards for Excellence in Teaching were bestowed upon prominent teachers and educationists from South India for exceptional academic contributions.
Chapter Performance Awards
Honoring top-performing AMP Chapters across India and international chapters for exemplary project execution and community reach.
AMP’s Inspiring Journey
Special invitee Mr. Saeed Khan (Founder, Rightway Foundation) reflected on AMP’s growth from a grassroots initiative into a nationwide professional revolution.
Presidential Closing: The 4E Framework & 1 Crore Vision
In the concluding address, Mr. Aamir Edresy (President, AMP) outlined the roadmap defining AMP's 4E Framework:
- Engage: Connecting professionals with AMP, conducting structured inductions, and welcoming continuous innovation across working domains.
- Educate: Expanding School Development Lectures (SDLs), Higher Secondary mentorship, Teachers’ Training, and Parental Workshops.
- Employ: Scaling Employability Training Programs (ETPs), Mock Interview Workshops (MIWs), Job Fairs (JFs), Job Drives (JDs), and partnering with Imams of local Masajid/Madaris for candidate mobilization.
- Empower: Skill Training thousands of youth via CSR and NSDC collaborations, alongside AMP Zakat Fund scholarships, orphan education support, and self-employment assistance.

The Convention concluded with all participants singing the National Anthem and pledging renewed dedication to the progress and prosperity of AMP and the Nation.
