Over 1,173 deserving and underprivileged lives were touched by the AMP Zakat Fund in 2021!
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam and one of its defining characteristics. No other religion places such great emphasis on social equity through voluntary charitable contributions. In more than 30 verses of the Holy Qur’an, the giving of Zakat is coupled with prayer (Salah) as a hallmark of the faithful, representing the core economic pillar of Islam.
The AMP Zakat Fund (AZF) was established 9 years ago with a core focus on Education and Self-Employment for underprivileged Muslims. Alhamdulillah, it has grown multi-fold from a humble collection of Rs. 2 lakhs in 2013 to Rs. 1,17,70,670 from 1,229 Donors in 2021.
Our Mission: To help *make the Zakat Seekers of today become the Zakat Givers of tomorrow*.

Note:
- The total amount includes disbursements made between 1st April 2020 and 31st March 2021.
- The remaining balance every year gets carried forward to the subsequent year’s fund.
- Specific donations are designated by Donors for particular beneficiaries or activities.
Key Impact Areas
Higher Education Scholarships
Supported 685 meritorious, financially needy students in professional courses across India with degree scholarships of Rs. 10,000 – Rs. 50,000.
Orphans’ Basic Education
Funded basic schooling for 359 needy orphan children across India through city chapters to prevent dropouts, with approx. 60% being girls.
Self-Employment Assistance
Provided seed grants of Rs. 25,000 – Rs. 50,000 to 98 unemployed poor individuals to launch small businesses in rural areas.
#COVID Orphans Support
Special emergency aid of Rs. 3,00,000 provided to 23 children who tragically lost their family breadwinners during the pandemic.
#FeedThePoor Campaign
Distributed 1,500+ emergency Ration Kits worth Rs. 15+ Lakhs across 100+ Indian cities to needy families during 2nd wave lockdowns.
Livelihood Support Projects
Self-Employment Assistance: Seed capital of largely Rs. 25,000 – Rs. 50,000 each was provided to 98 unemployed poor individuals to start small businesses, promoting self-employment with a special focus on widows and elderly people in rural areas:
- Lucknow Goat-Farming Project: An amount of Rs. 2,00,000 was granted for a livelihood project in Lucknow to help a cluster of 10 families become self-reliant through goat farming (2 goats & 4 baby goats provided per family, costing ~Rs. 20,000 each).
- Noida Livelihood Project: An amount of Rs. 1,35,000 was provided for 20 beneficiaries (16 women and 4 men) from weaker sections in Noida for sewing machines and Theli-Rickshaws to earn supplementary family income in an industrial town, closely monitored by local leadership.
- Bhopal Livelihood Support: A grant of Rs. 57,000 was made to 7 female beneficiaries from vulnerable families living in Jhuggi-Jhopri settlements for sewing machines, helping them earn an independent living.
- Rajasthan Livelihood Support: AMP Rajasthan distributed 29 sewing machines costing Rs. 2,33,000 across three sewing centres in Jaipur City, connecting women artisans directly with textile factory work.
- Similarly, many other individuals, poor men and women, were helped across the Country to start livelihoods and take care of their families.
AMP’s Mission of Feeding Poor and Needy!
In 2021, due to the 2nd wave of the #COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdowns, we witnessed an unprecedented loss of human lives and families facing acute food shortages, with many losing the sole earning members of their households.
AMP once again rose to the occasion and launched its countrywide campaign (#FeedthePoor) on IndiaZakat.com (IZC) to provide emergency Ration Kits. We distributed around 1,500+ Ration Kits worth more than Rs. 15+ Lakhs through the IndiaZakat platform and AMP local teams among needy families in 100+ cities across India.
These ration kits were distributed across big and small cities through our strong network of volunteers who assisted in sourcing, packing, transportation, and direct doorstep distribution to affected families.
Two Years of IndiaZakat.com
IndiaZakat.com (IZC), India’s premier Zakat crowdfunding portal, was launched in 2020 by AMP on the eve of Ramzan. Connecting Zakat Givers directly with verified Zakat Seekers online from the comfort of their homes, IZC raised more than Rs. 8+ Crores through 26,000+ donations, helping over 15,000+ individuals, families, and grassroots NGOs.
