AMP distributes cheques for Self-Employment

AMP top officials visit Osmanabad to study conditions of affected people and  also distributes cheques for Self-Employment to the needy.

Some members of Top official team of Association of Muslim Professionals, a pan-India social welfare organization, visited some of the draught affected and other areas of Maharashtra to study the conditions of the needy and how to benefit them by creating means of regular livelihood for them. They also distributed cheques to 10 very needy families as well.

AMP team which included its President Mr. Aamir Edresy, Gen Secretary Mr. Syed Najeeb-Ur-Rahman, Organizing Secretary Mr. Soheb Selia and Head of its Employment Initiatives Mr. Abdul Razak Shaikh visited parts of Maharashtra including Osmanabad, Latur, Naldur and Solapur. The team was moved by the plight of people especially in Osmanabad as it has a host of impoverished families and very limited means of income or employment. Hearing of the plight of the people in these areas which are mostly draught-prone, the team not only took some initiatives to help the local people in Osmanabad by distributing cheques to help 10 very needy families consisting of females who were the ‘only-earning’ members in their families who were mostly widows under its ‘self-employment’ initiatives, but was also exploring options on how to make them self-sufficient and support them as well. Earlier the AMP team had assisted other organizations to help financial assistance and distribute cheques to families of draught-affected farmers. This time the AMP visiting team also took the opportunity to sensitize its local AMP team members and others especially in Latur & Solapur of the plight of the people and conducted various brain-storming sessions with local people and other experts on exploring avenues of creating regular income for them.

Speaking about its trip Mr. Aamir Edresy said, “During my earlier visit under “Help Kisan – An Initiative By SEWA” I was really moved by the plight of the people and had made up my mind that I would soon return back with my team and we could try to do something to help these unfortunate souls. We have tried our humble efforts by providing some financial assistance to 10 families as of now who have been narrowed down upon by our local facilitators Dr. Tabassum Sultana and her team after due diligence. Though some organizations have extended financial assistance to people of this region but we intended to do something more than that to help these people generate a decent source of income.”

Mr. Syed Najeeb-Ur-Rahman said, “We were deeply moved looking at the plight of these people. Our intention is not just to provide support to them but to makporntention is not just to help themheseefactors of tomorrow. to 10 families as of now who have been narrowed down upe them capable of supporting themselves. We want the benefit seekers of today become the benefactors of tomorrow. If this happens at the micro-level only then our country can become self-sufficient in the true sense. We want to help generate a source of regular income for these people so that they are not left on the mercy of others but can earn their livelihood independently and with their self-respect intact.”

Mr. Soheb Selia said, “We are grateful that The Almighty has provided us an opportunity to extend a helping hand to the needy and has considered us worthy to render our humble services to the society. We have been able to monetarily assist just a few of them but we intend to come back with a proper plan to pull them out of these miseries. We are sure to increase our capabilities both in terms of financial strengths as well as human efforts so that we are able to benefit maximum people. I am sure that The Almighty would surely assist us in our noble and selfless endeavours”

Mr. Abdul Razak Shaikh said, “With limited sources of income it has become imperative that we plan and devise a proper source of livelihood for the people of this region. We are simultaneously studying and exploring various options on how to generate a source of regular income for these people not just in this town but the entire region, taking into account the regional characteristics, ease of access, operational feasibility and the surrounding markets, etc.”
